How it Works
We're celebrating family, flavor, food and our new pellet collection —available exclusively at Walmart—with the Family Full of Flavor Contest. To enter, you need to share a recipe, but we're not just looking for any recipe. We want one steeped in family history! Share a recipe you love that has meaning to your family, perhaps one that’s been passed down for generations!
The contest kicks off on March 25. You must submit your recipe(s) by midnight EST on May 3. You are allowed one recipe per category. Categories include appetizers, side dishes, entrees and desserts.
Three finalists will be announced on May 6, and everyone can vote on their favorite of the three. The winner will be announced on May 16 and will win an all-expense paid family reunion outfitted by Walmart and Bear Mountain BBQ (a $5,000 gift card to Walmart).
Our Judges
This contest will be hosted by Merry Graham, an award-winning celebrity home chef and grandmother, and Jennifer Plemmons, a southern influencer and grilling mom who still lives on her family’s land in Georgia.
Merry, Jennifer and the Bear Mountain team will review all of the recipes and select three finalists. Voting will then open so everyone can select their favorite recipe.
Throughout the contest, Merry and Jennifer will be sharing their own flavorful stories and favorite recipes they make for their family gatherings.
Then, peek inside the kitchens of the judges when Merry and Jennifer cook and judge the three finalists’ recipes on social media.
What You Need To Know
The recipe does NOT need to be made for the pellet grill. However, it does need to be cooked, grilled or baked in some way.

You must be 18 years or older and live in the continental U.S. to enter.

Dishes will be scored equally on:
Taste (33%)
The key to every good recipe is the taste. Is the dish flavorful? Balanced? Will everyone in the family like it? Would you want to make this recipe again because it just tastes that good?
Ease to prepare (33%)
Family time can get busy, so recipes shouldn’t get too complex. Are the ingredients in your dish easy to find at the grocery store? Is it easy to make?
Serve and eat at a family reunion (33%)
Is it easy to increase the size of this dish for bigger groups? Does the recipe have an interesting story? Does it have a history? Will it inspire others to make again?
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Each submitted recipe must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity. All entries become the physical property of the sponsor (Bear Mountain BBQ) and will not be returned. - Even if you do not use a grill, or pellets, in your recipe, you will choose which pellets would make your dish even tastier. (You will choose between the five new blends— Chef’s Choice, Butcher’s Blend, Chophouse, Smoky Apple Whiskey and Maple Bourbon Pecan – available exclusively at Walmart).

- Each judge will review all of the entries and help select three finalists. Those finalists will be announced on May 6 via the Bear Mountain BBQ website and on social media platforms. If you are a finalist, we will ask you to share a family photo with us, which we will include online.
- Dishes will be scored equally on:
- Appearance (25%): How does this dish present on a platter or a baking dish? Does it look appetizing? Is it drool worthy before you taste or smell it?
- Taste (25%): Key to every good recipe is the taste. Is the dish flavorful? Balanced? Will everyone in the family like it? Would you want to make this recipe again because it just tastes that good?
- Ease to prepare (25%): Family time can get busy, so recipes shouldn’t get too complex. Are the ingredients in your dish easy to find at the grocery store? Is it easy to make?
- Serve and eat at a family reunion (25%): Is it easy to increase the size of this dish for bigger groups? Does the recipe have an interesting story? Does it have a history? Will it inspire others to make again?
- From May 6-16, you can go online to BearMountainBBQ.com, check out the three recipes, and vote on your favorite.
- If you vote for your favorite recipe and sign up for our Bear Mountain newsletter, you will be entered into a raffle to win a variety of prizes from Bear Mountain pellets and swag to Walmart gift cards.
- You are allowed to vote once per day. Each vote gets you an entry into the raffle.

- On May 16, we will announce the winner and the runner ups.
