Smoked Elk Bourbon Meatballs

With a deep, rich, sweet flavor of bourbon paired with honey and barbeque sauce, this recipe is perfect for a cocktail meatball or weeknight dinner!

Steps

  1. Preheat your smoker to 180℉ degrees. 
  2. Mix meatball ingredients in a large bowl. Shape into equal sized meatballs and set into an aluminum tin leaving space between each meatball. 
  3. Smoke for 30-40 minutes. 
  4. Whisk together sauce ingredients.
  5. Increase to 300℉ degrees. Add bourbon bbq sauce, and cook until the internal temperature reaches 165℉ degrees.


Ingredients:

  • 1-½ pounds ground elk 
  • 1/2 pound ground pork 
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced 
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs 
  • 1/4 cup milk 
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic 
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce 
  • 1-½ tablespoons BBQ rub 
  • Bear Mountain Maple Bourbon Pecan Pellets 


BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 3 tbsp bourbon
  • 2 tbsp honey
