Honey Chili Crisp Chicken

Smoky, sweet, spicy, and perfectly sticky—this Honey Chili Crisp Chicken from ambassador Frank Campanella brings big flavor! Marinated in a savory honey chili crisp glaze and cooked until the skin is beautifully caramelized, it's the kind of recipe that disappears fast at cookouts and weeknight dinners alike.

Steps

  1. Whisk together all of the Honey Chili Crisp Sauce ingredients until fully combined. Set aside.
  2. Pat the chicken dry and place in a large bowl or container.
  3. Reserve half of the sauce for finishing. Toss the chicken with the remaining sauce, BBQ rub, chimichurri seasoning, and SPG seasoning until evenly coated.
  4. Cover and marinate for a few hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat your grill or smoker to 325°F using your favorite Bear Mountain pellets.
  6. Place the chicken skin-side up and cook for approximately 30 minutes.
  7. Flip the chicken, season lightly with additional seasoning if desired, and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 185°F.
  8. Brush the chicken with the reserved Honey Chili Crisp Sauce during the final few minutes of cooking.
  9. Remove from the grill and garnish with scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
  10. Serve immediately.

Ingredients:


Chicken

  • 4 lbs. chicken (thighs, legs, wings, or a combination) 
  • 1 TBSP BBQ dry rub 
  • 2 TBSP chimichurri seasoning 
  • 2 TSP salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning 


Honey Chili Crisp Sauce

  • ½ cup raw honey 
  • ¼ cup chili crisp 
  • 1 TBSP sesame oil 
  • 3 TBSP rice wine vinegar 
  • 3 TBSP low-sodium soy sauce 
  • 2 TSP chicken bouillon powder 


Optional Garnish

  • Sliced scallions 
  • Toasted sesame seeds
